Create And Make A Group On Facebook

This is how to make a group on Facebook. After signing into your account, navigate to the Home page. On the left side under your profile picture you will see a list. Select Create Group.

A window will pop up. The first box in the window is labeled Group Name and begins with an icon. Clicking the icon reveals a drop-down menu. Select the icon you want. Then type in a name. You should use keywords and phrases in the name when you make a group on Facebook. When these phrases and words are entered in a search, it will show up in the results.

In the next box labeled Members, begin to type the names of friends you want to make members. Facebook will provide a drop-down list of all of your friends with matching names. From this list you can quickly choose anyone you want to make a member. Repeat until you have added all of your members.

Next, choose your privacy settings. When you select the Open privacy option, the list of members and content of your group will be made public. When you select the Closed privacy option, members will remain public but the content will become private. With a Secret privacy selection, members and content will both be private. Press the Create button.

Another window will appear. Click Okay. You will be redirected to your groups page. In the upper right corner of this page is an Edit Group button. Click on it. You will be taken to the Basic Information page where you can come up with an email address and a description.

Under name and the list of members will be a line labeled Email Address. Click the Set Up Group Email button. A pop-up window will appear. Type in an email address. Emails sent to this address will be received by all members. Once you have created an email address, select the Create Email button. You will be taken back to the Basic Information page.

On the Basic Information page is the Description box. In this box, type information that you want others to know about your group. Anyone will be able to see this information unless your privacy setting has been set to Secret. Then select the Back to Group button at the top right hand corner of the screen. This will take you back to the groups main page. On the top right of this page is an Edit Settings button. Click on this button.

A window will pop up. A drop-down menu allows you to set your preferences for alerts. Alerts can be sent to you when anyone comments or posts on your group page. They will be sent to the email address you provided for your Facebook account unless you click on the blue Edit Your Notifications Settings link. Clicking this will allow you to provide a different email.

Next, select whether or not you want your group to show up in home navigation. Lastly, choose to either check or uncheck the box for the option Send me Group Chat Messages. If you uncheck the box, group chat messages will not be sent to you. Click the Save Settings button.
