Exactly The Way You Might Begin Home Brewing Beer

Home brewed products can be a cheaper and more unique alternative to store-bought drinks. It tends to be more organic and some say it is better tasting, and there may also be a higher percentage of alcohol if it is alcoholic. It can be both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, and it is up to the brewer to decide which option to go for when home brewing beer.

These home brewed drinks can be served at your parties or gatherings for free, and they must be for personal use, only. Although the ingredients may be harder to find, any recipe will usually contain hops, malt, water and probably yeast if the drink is alcoholic.

Kits can bought to make the process of buying and measuring the ingredients easier, particularly for the beginner. Equipment is required that may not be found in an ordinary kitchen, such as a racking cane, a brew kettle and an airlock. It will take a couple of hours to begin, so set aside an afternoon so you do not have approaching engagements on your mind.

It is wise to think about sanitation and to clean your kitchen before beginning as well as making sanitizing the equipment that you will be using. You will start by boiling the malt in water, which will kill all the bacteria that may be in it. These bacteria may ruin your beer and consume the malt sugar which is reserved for the brewers yeast. The boiled water and malt is called wort, and is now extremely hot and free of bacteria.

The hops go into the wort, next, after the malt has dissolved. These add that characteristic bitter taste, which is needed for authentic flavor. Your wort will need to cool down, after this. It is probably a good idea to put the lid on the brew kettle to help stop bacteria from getting into the liquid as it becomes more inhabitable for them. The cooling process will be slowed down by the lid, however, so it might be best to put the kettle into ice or something cold. Putting ice into the wort, itself, though, will risk contamination, if the ice has bacteria on it.

When it is fully cooled, you will need to transfer the wort to the fermenter so you can add the yeast. After the yeast is added and mixed in, the wort is very close to becoming beer. This is because the fermentation of the malt sugar and the yeast is what creates alcohol. It will take anything from a couple of days to a couple of weeks to finish fermenting.

When it is completed, it can be bottles. Before this is done, the wort, which now appears to be clear, should be moved to a bucket with priming sugar, which will carbonate the drink. There will be an inch of dormant yeast and hop residue left in the fermenter, which should be cleaned. The beer should be poured into bottles, now, with the small amount of yeast remaining activating with the sugar.

After a couple of days, you will need to siphon your beer, which should be put back into a now clean fermenter. The siphoning keeps the drink sanitised and you will need to siphon the beer into a sanitised bottling container that will have boiling water to rid the liquid of any new bacteria. After this, your beer can be put into bottles, as it is almost done. This home brewing beer will be drinkable in a couple of weeks, after which time the yeast will have fully fermented the priming sugar.
