Style Goddess Rules – Cocktail Dresses For Any Climate

It is cloudy. It is windy. There is a tornado. It’s a 100 degrees and humid. What a best day for a cocktail party. My Trend Goddess Rule # 23 is — fancy shalt not outweigh ease and comfort. Make sure you own or invest in a solid choice of cocktail dresses for each climate.

Cloudy/Overcast

If you believe pretty confident it isn’t going to rain, go with a sunny color or cheery style. Photographers and film directors actually like cloudy and overcast climate because the lighting is more flattering for all skin tones and types. You need to take advantage on this. Night Moves’ cocktails dresses are vivacious. Cloudy with a chance of fabulousness!

Rainy

I cannot stress this enough: if rain is incorporated in the weather forecast on the night of your occasion, wear black. Should you wear white it will likely be wrecked and if you wear a color, you’ll risk the dye bleeding throughout everything. You may need a true black, something that will not look wet and won’t display spots if you’ve found yourself caught inside a downpour.

Hot & Humid

When it is hot and humid, you will just be relaxed in close to nothing. Whatever you wear it should be strapless, short, and lightweight. It should be uncomplicated, quick to enter, and easy to get out of.

Do not make the blunder of donning something fancy. Sequins are out. So are plenty of gems. These types of accessories, although gorgeous, will feel like a layer of armor in hot and humid weather.

Scanning La Femme cocktails dresses, I bookmarked a black halter (#14490). Halters are exceptional simply because there will not be any fabric concealing your underarms. And darker colors hide potential sweat marks well.

Busy designs are wonderful too. Is that a sweat stain under your arm or is it a part of that paisley motif? Your secret will be safe.

Warm & Dry

If it is hot and dry, you may use sequins and intensely decorated dresses. Something that shines like the desert sun will light up an area. Shoulders, legs, and backs can and should be revealed. Sherri Hill cocktail dresses are sequin rock stars. Try to find the #226 in silver, bronze, or gold.

Windy

Surprisingly, I suggest sporting a short dress when it’s windy. It should however be tight fitting.

A lengthy dress will cloak you in too much moveable fabric. You will end up having difficulties to walk, stumbling around yourself. While a short, moving dress might blow up and…uh oh.

In a collection of Tony Bowls cocktail dresses, I selected a turquoise hip hugger (#TS21044). It’s an asymmetrical 3/4-inch sleeve for added warmth.

Cold But Clear

Cover up whenever you can. Go with earthy and velvety hues. I saved a page from a Jasz cocktail dresses catalog having a mile long, eggplant dazzler (#4067). I also discovered an example from Precious Formals cocktail dresses. An Elizabethan gown in purple passion (#P44132).

Cold & Snowing

Cover up much more! And trust me when I say, ignore anything dark. If you’ve ever been found in the snow putting on something black, you know the reason. Dried out snow on black clothes can evaporate up into a dirty, salty mess.

Even though you are at it, ex out everything white. To begin with, if it is freezing out, it is usually post-Labor Day and you know much better than that. If you find some Terani cocktail dresses, look for style #95013P. It’s ice blue and you will feel swaddled in eons of fabric.

Perfect Weather

You may be asking yourself why there is a class for perfect weather. Can’t you wear anything? Yes, mostly. When the weather is ideal, it’s time to party.

I am aware all you East coast women adore wearing black. But on an ideal day, black can appear sultry and faded. Faviana cocktail dresses are springtime personified. Plenty of vibrancy and floral frivolity like #6588 in lilac.
